A puggle dog is a type of popular designer breed of dogs. Like with any puppy you might be thinking of adopting from a shelter or a rescue, you will want to learn as much as you can beforehand. Nothing is worse than having to get rid of a beloved dog that is just not a match for your family. Doing a little research on dogs, most specifically puggles if that is what you are interested in is wise.

There are several ways you could potentially adopt a puggle puppy. You could seek out a reputable breeder. Use a shelter or a rescue agency. It is best to go by word of mouth recommendations in cases like this. You could definitely use the internet to your advantage in such a scenario to seek out those most knowledgeable about puggle dogs and puppies in your area. Your veterinarian might also be able to help aid you in your search for a puggle puppy.

Regardless of where you adopt from there are a few important things to consider, such as the time and maintenance your puggle puppy will need. Puggles do not do well when left alone for large amounts of time and can become destructive if they don’t get enough exercise. These needs should be able to be met easily on a daily basis for your family before you adopt.

There are also health issues that puggles are prone to, such as respiratory ailments, eye and skin infections. Puggle puppies need daily brushing and skin care to be happy and healthy, as well as regular vet visits to stay on top of their health. Be sure before purchasing or adopting that you can make this commitment.

The most important thing when adopting a puggle puppy is to consider it’s history. If the breeder or rescue can’t tell you anything about the dog it is wise to keep looking. The history of your puggle is extremely important so you can know how their health is.It pays to do your research ahead of time when considering to adopt a puggle puppy as they are more high needs than your ordinary everyday dog.

There are many ways to adopt a small dog. You can find a sweet little dog at shelters. All you need to do is to pay some money for adoption and some dog owner fees. It is very important to know what kind of owner the dog had in the past.

Commonly aggressive dogs have bad, indifferent and careless owners. They don’t take care of their pet and this makes the dog become unfriendly. It is recommended to get to know the dog before adoption. If you have kids, you need to bring them along for the first meeting.

Many small dog breeds do have certain medical conditions. For example Dachshunds of usual or small diversity have back and hip problems. The Dachshund’s stretched out body causes them to have back issues. Another genetic element is their discs outer layer is thinner than normal. This medical problem is called “Intervertebral Disc Disease”.

Another method for adopting small dogs can be rescues. The most popular breeds are such as: Papillion, Bichon frise, Dachshunds, Boston terrier, Miniature Pinscher and so on. There are other types of breeds that are mixed race. It all depends on you and your investigation about what kind of dog is suitable for you to have. It is suggested that some small dogs such as: Pugs and Miniature Boxers should not be adopted if you have small children at home. The small dogs are easy to injure if you have small kids. They might fall or step on them.

There are also some small dogs that like to bite. These kinds of dogs can be adopted where there are older children.

Generally small dogs need more attention and space to run. They tend to be more energetic and hyper than the bigger dogs. You also need to dedicate more time, love and money. Small dogs love to play and if you don’t play with them, they get depressed and aggressive. You also need to pay more attention to them in order to maintain their health situation. They require vaccinations and regular checkups. If you have enough money to take care of their medical needs and their obligatory maintenance, then you will not have a problem with having a pet.

If you feel that you do not have time to maintain your dog, you may do a disservice to yourself and your pet. A bored pet may cause some problems at home. If you have an apartment, it is better to adopt a small dog, especially if you are a senior citizen. They make a great companion. It is also easier to control the small dogs than the larger ones.

You need to consider both the advantages and disadvantages of small dog adoption. You need to know whether having a small pet at home is right for you. You do also need to make sure that your landlord agrees with your decision regarding having a small pet at home. Some people might have an allergy to dogs. It is better to talk to someone who has small pets. They usually give you great tips of what to do if you decide to have a dog at home.

Small dog breeds are great pets, but since their personalities are all different, it’s a good idea to look at their individual characteristics to see if they fit with your lifestyle.

Pomeranians:

Pomeranians developed from a much larger dog breed and seem to have retained the mellow character. They are good with children if they have been raised with them from puppyhood. They are playful and active. They tend to bark and require daily grooming.

Chihuahuas:

Chihuahuas are an interesting small breed. I have raised several herds – and that is a good word for a group of chihuahuas – and their temperment is a bit different from other small dogs. They can be very aggressive towards other dog breeds. I adopted one chihuahua who kept attacking a German Shepherd who finally bit her. After she got out of the hospital she went after him again. I ended up with her because she wasn’t going to quit attacking bigger dogs. Some chihuahuas will growl and nip at small children. Good points – chihuahuas are very loyal and affectionate. They don’t require as much exercise as other small breeds so they make ideal pets for apartment dwellers or older people. They are good with cats.

Boston Terrier:

Good with children and other animals, the Boston terrier is a good small dog for families. They are suitable for any lifestyle. They can be aggressive chewers. Their short coat is easy to keep clean.

Jack Russell Terrier:

This dog breed is only for the most active owners. They love to chase balls, can hop onto a table with ease and can be aggressive if not trained properly. Very intelligent and lively, they require a lot of attention and discipline.

Maltese:

This small dog breed can be very protective of its owner. It is not suitable for families with children because they are very fragile.

Shitzu or Shih tzu:

Good natured and non-aggressive, these friendly little dogs make great family pets. They require daily brushing but their hair is non-shedding. Good with other animals.

Bichon Frise:

These little dogs make good family pets. They are good with children as well as other animals. Very intelligent, easy to train and lively. Their coat doesn’t shred.

Dachshund:

Not a hound but a terrier bred to go after vermin, the breed is lively and affectionate. Good with family members but will become aggressive to children outside the family. They make good watchdogs and will bark frequently to alert their owners.

Pekinese:

Very fierce and loyal, these little dogs are not good around children or other animals. These are good dogs for the elderly. Their coats require a good deal of grooming.

Skye Terrier:

Great with children, okay with other dogs but not tolerant of cats. This unique breed makes a fine pet. Distrustful of strangers.

The next step after selecting a breed is to find a reputable breeder. To get more information, visit us at http://www.dog-match.com/small-dog-breeds

It is said that house breaking a small dog such as Dachshunds may take longer than other small breeds of dogs. Other than size, there is no real reason why this seems to be true in general, but it does seem to be a fact. These are some ways to train your Dachshund so that your dog does not use you house as a personal bathroom.

Dogs as a rule will not piddle or poop in the place where they sleep directly. Therefore a kennel or pen can be used to housebreak your dog. The dog should be let out every few hours to the outside to do the bathroom duties outside. If you have a doggie door, the kennel or pen can be placed where there is access to the dog door and praised each time the dog performs the bathroom duty outdoors.

There must be consistency in the training otherwise the dog will become
confused and the training will take longer. If there is an accident, the dog must be placed back into the pen until such time they go outdoors through a dog door or you can take them outdoors to do their bathroom duty.

Make sure you reward you dog each time they wait to go outside or go outside to themselves eliminate. This insures they will remember and be encouraged to continue until the outdoor process become the norm.

If you choose to paper train your dog, make sure that you use pads made for this purpose. Newspapers actually make noise and can scare your dog each time they walk on it making training just a little more difficult and lengthy. Moving the pad closer to the door after each use helps to direct the dog to the outdoors.

Training a small dog can be frustrating but is much easier with the help of someone who has gone through the process before. Be assured that housebreaking can be done very quickly using proper methods and being consistent.

Socializing your Golden Retriever is very important. As you may already know, all dog breeds behave different in front of strangers, with some dogs choosing to ignore people altogether. They may choose to glance at someone, then go on to pay no attention to him. On the other hand, some dogs are the total opposite and love to meet everyone they can. These types of dogs love attention, and will take any attention they can get.

Some Golden Retrievers are happy with those they have come to know in their own family, or those they have selected to be friends. Others on the other hand, may feel comfortable just around those of the same sex. Most Golden’s like children, although there are a few rare cases in which certain types of Golden Retrievers like adults but not children. This is extremely rare, and is normally due to the way they were bred or raised.

When your puppy is between the ages of 8 weeks and 8 months, socializing him is extremely important. During this time, you should always do everything you can to ensure that your Golden Retriever meets other people. Although he may be shy at first and not have much interaction, he will eventually come around. You will need to be patient with him during these times, as he will need quite a bit of reassurance from you.

Your dog’s parents also contribute to socialization. If the parents of your Golden Retriever were good with people and other dogs, the gene could very well be passed on to your dog. On the other hand, if the parents were shy or aggressive dogs, those genes could be passed on as well. Pups inherit the traits of their parents ,which is why it is very important to make sure that the dogs being bred are compatible with each other – and share a passive temperament.

If your puppy was separated from his mother before he reached the age of seven weeks, he won’t learn many of the social signals taught to him by his mom and his siblings. Golden Retriever pups that are brought to a new home earlier than seven weeks will normally tend to end up nippy or aggressive around people. Although they may be aggressive towards people, they may be shy or fearful around other dogs, as they lack the social skills needed to be themselves.

Sometimes, if a puppy was injured or frightened during his early years, he can end up with a state of trauma. This type of thing leaves a huge scar in the mind of a puppy, making it very hard for him to get past it. Most Golden Retriever pups that have been injured or frightened by an individual never get past it. They may end up fearing humans in general, or being very aggressive towards them when they feel frightened. When you take your puppy home for the first time, you should always make him feel welcomed, and never let anyone or anything harm him.

To better socialize your Golden Retriever, you should always make sure that he gets plenty of interaction with other people and other dogs in his breed. This way, your Golden will learn how to socialize at any early age. When he gets older in life, he will carry these skills with him. Golden Retrievers that are sheltered or not given the proper amount of interaction will turn out shy towards people and other dogs. With your Golden being your companion for life – you should always ensure that he gets the socialization he needs.
