Many people assume that just because a dog toy was purchased from a pet store, it is automatically safe for their dog. But this is not the case, as several toys are made for dogs of certain sizes and with certain play/chewing styles, and some toys can be dangerous for dogs if they are not properly supervised.

Large dogs or dogs that chew aggressively both have very specific needs when it comes to dog toys. Large dogs should always be given toys that are made for large dogs, because the smaller toys could become choking hazards.

Similarly, aggressive chewers (especially large aggressive chewers) can suffer from a whole host of issues with improperly selected toys. Any plastic, hollow squeaker toy is automatically out without proper supervision, because these toys can cause choking and vomiting if swallowed, and aggressive chewers tend to easily rip pieces of plastic from these toys apart. Also, furry toys, like stuffed animals, are also at risk of being ripped and eaten, and so should be purchased with extreme caution.

Still, for these two types of dogs, there are still several toy options. First, all of these toys are still made for dogs, and so if you do have time to properly supervise your dog, each is a nice gift. But for those that like to leave toys with their dogs, large ropes make great chew toys. They also clean teeth, and are less likely to be ripped apart, making them ideal for the aggressive chewing dogs.

Large dogs can still enjoy most any toy, as most dog toy makers do have “large breed” versions of all of their toys, you simply have to find them.

Also, brands like Kong use thick rubber which is more durable than traditional thin plastic dog toys, so these toys can stand up to even the roughest chewers. Hard rubber toys are ideal for any dog that seems to be destroying its toys faster than you can purchase them.

Finally, any toy that a dog needs to “solve” – for example, a large plastic dome with treats inside that a dog needs to paw around with in order to receive the treats – is a great toy for active dogs (but not for dogs that are easily frustrated). Any large plastic dome toy should still be watched at first, however, because dogs that like to “kill” their toys (shake their toys violently back and forth) may try to do so with their heavy plastic toy, causing untold amount of damage.

Dog toy manufacturers have done a much better job of creating toys for larger dogs and aggressive chewers. Still, it is a good idea to consider each toy carefully before handing it over to your dog, and supervising your dog for a while to ensure it is using the toy correctly.

One of the most beautiful, loyal and aggressive dogs out there is the German Shepherd. There are many owners out there who want to know about German Shepherd training and how they can make their beautiful dog one that guards the home, but is safe to be around children and other pets.

Start Training As Early As Possible

It is very important you start German Shepherd puppy training early, for many reasons.

1. It will be easier to control them when they are grown up.

2. German Shepherd dog training done early can give you an amazing adult dog.

3. These dogs have a lot of energy, so you are going to need to get things started early for training them to use that energy in a safe and healthy manner.

Socialization Is Key

With your dog training, you need to start early with socialization. This is why training is important because it will get the dog socializing from a young age with other dogs and humans. When a dog is socialized early, they will be more friendly to others in their adult age…and less likely to bite.

Obedience Classes For This Dog Breed

In regards to obedience classes, you will want to get your dog in there early (four months of age) so that they can benefit from the German Shepherd training tips that these trainers know. In fact, German Shepherd training should involve obedience classes because these dogs need to be trained properly from an early age. When this breed of dog is not trained properly, they can be aggressive to others and be a danger. They are wonderful dogs, so be sure to give them the proper training and respect from an early age.

There are many ways to adopt a small dog. You can find a sweet little dog at shelters. All you need to do is to pay some money for adoption and some dog owner fees. It is very important to know what kind of owner the dog had in the past.

Commonly aggressive dogs have bad, indifferent and careless owners. They don’t take care of their pet and this makes the dog become unfriendly. It is recommended to get to know the dog before adoption. If you have kids, you need to bring them along for the first meeting.

Many small dog breeds do have certain medical conditions. For example Dachshunds of usual or small diversity have back and hip problems. The Dachshund’s stretched out body causes them to have back issues. Another genetic element is their discs outer layer is thinner than normal. This medical problem is called “Intervertebral Disc Disease”.

Another method for adopting small dogs can be rescues. The most popular breeds are such as: Papillion, Bichon frise, Dachshunds, Boston terrier, Miniature Pinscher and so on. There are other types of breeds that are mixed race. It all depends on you and your investigation about what kind of dog is suitable for you to have. It is suggested that some small dogs such as: Pugs and Miniature Boxers should not be adopted if you have small children at home. The small dogs are easy to injure if you have small kids. They might fall or step on them.

There are also some small dogs that like to bite. These kinds of dogs can be adopted where there are older children.

Generally small dogs need more attention and space to run. They tend to be more energetic and hyper than the bigger dogs. You also need to dedicate more time, love and money. Small dogs love to play and if you don’t play with them, they get depressed and aggressive. You also need to pay more attention to them in order to maintain their health situation. They require vaccinations and regular checkups. If you have enough money to take care of their medical needs and their obligatory maintenance, then you will not have a problem with having a pet.

If you feel that you do not have time to maintain your dog, you may do a disservice to yourself and your pet. A bored pet may cause some problems at home. If you have an apartment, it is better to adopt a small dog, especially if you are a senior citizen. They make a great companion. It is also easier to control the small dogs than the larger ones.

You need to consider both the advantages and disadvantages of small dog adoption. You need to know whether having a small pet at home is right for you. You do also need to make sure that your landlord agrees with your decision regarding having a small pet at home. Some people might have an allergy to dogs. It is better to talk to someone who has small pets. They usually give you great tips of what to do if you decide to have a dog at home.

Jack Russell terriers are small yet known to be absolutely fearless and strong-willed breed of dog. Their strong personality is makes them perfect working terriers used to bolt fox from their dens. Jack Russell terriers are also used on ground-dwelling quarry such as groundhog, badger and red and grey fox. Yes, their strong personality is highly beneficial but this may lead to aggression when they are not properly socialized.

There are many reasons for a dog to become aggressive. The environment in which a dog thrives has a great role in developing this behavior problem. Living conditions, lack of socialization, inappropriate method of training, excessive punishment and being threatened by other dogs and humans are some of the things that can influence canine aggression.

We are all aware that dog breeds, especially the likes of Jack Russell terriers have retained their strong natural protective instinct. They are not afraid to face the world when they think that they or their family is in danger. This type of aggression, considered as defensive aggression or aggression induced by fear causes a dog to display certain behaviors such as but not limited to avoidance of direct eye contact, lowering of the head and body, tucking tails between the legs and submissive urination. On the other hand, standing tall with the ears up and forward, carrying tails high, staring menacingly and emitting low growl with teeth exposed can be seen on dominant-aggressive dogs.

Gladly, this behavior problem can be treated and prevented. The surest way to treat the problem is to seek professional help. Ask advice from your veterinarian or professional behaviorist to help you determine the causes for aggression and the proper method or way to treat it. The most common way to treat canine aggression is to limit the dog’s exposure to situations that increase the likelihood of showing aggression. If the dog is aggressive to a person, this individual should become the main provider of everything the dog needs such as food, water, exercise, praise, affection and a whole lot more. Then reward the dog every time he displays submissive behavior such as ears back, looking away, crouching, lowering the head and so on. Neutering or spaying aggressive dogs can also help prevent aggression. Playing games like wrestling and tug-of-war should not be done since these games tend to promote aggressive dog behavior.

Remember that aggression can be dealt with as long as you know the proper way to do it. And remember to ask support from animal behaviorist. They know what’s best for your dog.

Some Golden Retrievers are happy with those they have come to know in their own family, or those they have selected to be friends. Others on the other hand, may feel comfortable just around those of the same sex. Most Golden’s like children, although there are a few rare cases in which certain types of Golden Retrievers like adults but not children. This is extremely rare, and is normally due to the way they were bred or raised.

When your puppy is between the ages of 8 weeks and 8 months, socializing him is extremely important. During this time, you should always do everything you can to ensure that your Golden Retriever meets other people. Although he may be shy at first and not have much interaction, he will eventually come around. You will need to be patient with him during these times, as he will need quite a bit of reassurance from you.

Your dog’s parents also contribute to socialization. If the parents of your Golden Retriever were good with people and other dogs, the gene could very well be passed on to your dog. On the other hand, if the parents were shy or aggressive dogs, those genes could be passed on as well. Pups inherit the traits of their parents ,which is why it is very important to make sure that the dogs being bred are compatible with each other – and share a passive temperament.

If your puppy was separated from his mother before he reached the age of seven weeks, he won’t learn many of the social signals taught to him by his mom and his siblings. Golden Retriever pups that are brought to a new home earlier than seven weeks will normally tend to end up nippy or aggressive around people. Although they may be aggressive towards people, they may be shy or fearful around other dogs, as they lack the social skills needed to be themselves.

Sometimes, if a puppy was injured or frightened during his early years, he can end up with a state of trauma. This type of thing leaves a huge scar in the mind of a puppy, making it very hard for him to get past it. Most Golden Retriever pups that have been injured or frightened by an individual never get past it. They may end up fearing humans in general, or being very aggressive towards them when they feel frightened. When you take your puppy home for the first time, you should always make him feel welcomed, and never let anyone or anything harm him.

To better socialize your Golden Retriever, you should always make sure that he gets plenty of interaction with other people and other dogs in his breed. This way, your Golden will learn how to socialize at any early age. When he gets older in life, he will carry these skills with him. Golden Retrievers that are sheltered or not given the proper amount of interaction will turn out shy towards people and other dogs. With your Golden being your companion for life – you should always ensure that he gets the socialization he needs.
